Utilize imagery catalog search

Using the imagery catalog search functionality, you can perform an interactive search and selection of available imagery from an enterprise imagery catalog service. You can also set search settings, preview imagery, view image metadata, and queue images for further use.

Access the imagery catalog search

The imagery catalog search can be accessed from the following in ArcGIS Excalibur:

  • On the ArcGIS Excalibur home page, click Connect By: Imagery Catalog Search.
  • From anywhere in the application, click Search in the side menu.

Once the imagery catalog search is open, set an active imagery service layer to begin your search experience.

Select an active imagery service

Before performing a search, an active imagery service layer must be set. The imagery catalog can search on one image service layer at a time. A list of enabled image service layers are available in the Catalog Imagery Layer Switcher located at the bottom corner of the catalog search map. If no layers are available in the layer switcher list, a message appears stating such. A similar message will also appears in the results panel informing you to utilize the My Available Imagery to enable imagery layers for search and discovery.

Note:

To populate the Catalog Imagery Layer Switcher list, click My Available Imagery in the Results panel to enable imagery service layers of interest for use in the imagery catalog search.

Select an active imagery service layer

To select an active imagery service layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Catalog Imagery Layer Switcher to expand the switcher.
  2. Choose an imagery service layer as the active imagery service.

    The map zooms to the extent of the service, and the name of the active imagery search service appears at the top of the imagery catalog search.

Change an active imagery service layer

To change an active imagery service layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Catalog Imagery Layer Switcher button to expand the switcher.
  2. Choose an imagery service layer as the new active imagery service.

Any existing results and filters will be reset when a new imagery service layer has been selected.

Once an active imagery search layer is set, you can search for imagery within your organization as described below.

Search by map extent

You can search on the active imagery service layer using your current map extent.

  1. Pan and zoom to an area of interest in the imagery catalog map.

    Note:

    The default basemap and map extent of the imagery catalog can be set in My Settings.

  2. Click the Run Search button.

    If images exist in the active imagery layer, the map pans and zooms to the extent of the results, footprints appear on the map, and results are listed on the Search Results tab.
