Enable Esri vector basemaps for the United States

ArcGIS Enterprise includes Esri vector basemaps customized for the United States. These basemaps include place-names as defined by the U.S. government, as well as treatments for several disputed boundaries and places as defined by the U.S. State Department. Perform the following steps to enable these custom basemaps:

  1. Verify that you are signed in as an administrator of your organization.
  2. Create a custom basemap gallery group if your organization does not already have one.
  3. Open the United States Vector Basemaps group

This group is owned by the esri_en system user. The group is not searchable in ArcGIS Enterprise, but it always has group id 65677764f0e4462380921e0bc63f1d86. You can browse to the group directly using the URL format https://hostname.example.com/webadaptorname/home/group.html?id=65677764f0e4462380921e0bc63f1d86#overview.

  4. Share the desired web map items in the United States Vector Basemaps group to your custom basemap gallery group.
  5. Set your custom basemap gallery group as your organization's basemap gallery if you have not already done so.
