Introduction to licensing user type extensions

User type extensions are licenses that extend the capabilities of ArcGIS Enterprise for specific users in an organization. They can be included in a user type or as an add-on license that you assign to members of your organization.

Although user type extensions provide access to this functionality, administrators must ensure that organization members are assigned appropriate user types and roles to do their work. For example, if a member is assigned the Viewer user type and the Viewer role, they will only be able to view services and other content across ArcGIS Enterprise.

ArcGIS IPS

ArcGIS IPS provides an indoor positioning system (IPS) solution for accurate geolocation for a wide variety of indoor location use cases. IPS allows you to locate yourself indoors by displaying a blue dot on a digital indoor map, share your real-time location with others (opt in), track the real-time location of others (opt in), capture location-based data, and discover analytical insights. You can navigate to people, places, and assets, while being aware of your surroundings and movement inside of a facility.

To use ArcGIS IPS with ArcGIS Enterprise, your organization must be licensed with the ArcGIS IPS organization capability. Organization members must be assigned a license for the ArcGIS IPS user type extension to have additional capabilities in ArcGIS IPS. This user type extension can be included as an add-on for user types with at least the capability to view and edit data, such as Mobile Worker, Editor, Creator, and GIS Professional user types.

For more information about using ArcGIS IPS, see the ArcGIS IPS help.

ArcGIS Advanced Editing

Note:

In ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 and previous releases, the ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Trace Network, and ArcGIS Parcel Fabric user type extensions were separate. These are now consolidated into the ArcGIS Advanced Editing user type extension. For information about configuring user type extensions, see Manage licenses.

The ArcGIS Advanced Editing user type extension provides access to the following advanced geodatabase functionality and frameworks when accessed through feature layers that reference data in a registered data store:

To use these with ArcGIS Enterprise, your organization members must be assigned a license for the ArcGIS Advanced Editing user type extension. This user type extension is included in the GIS Professional Standard and GIS Professional Advanced user types. It can also be included as an add-on for user types with at least the capability to view and edit data, such as Mobile Worker, Editor, Creator, and GIS Professional Basic user types.

ArcGIS Location Sharing

ArcGIS Location Sharing is an organization-wide extension, allowing users to share where they are and where they have been.

Organization administrators or members with the correct privileges can enable location sharing for members. When location sharing is enabled, licensed users in the organization can use the Field Maps, QuickCapture, or Indoors mobile apps to upload their locations to the location sharing layers. Organization members must be assigned a license for the ArcGIS Location Sharing user type extension to share their location. This user type extension is included with the Mobile Worker user type or it can be included as an add-on for other user types.

For more information about using ArcGIS Location Sharing, see the location sharing help.
