Existing ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server users

Attention :

Do not uninstall an existing version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server before installing the new version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server. Instead, run the ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server installer to properly upgrade your existing Extension GeoEvent configuration to the new version.

The ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server installer is designed to detect and upgrade an existing installation of the Extension GeoEvent on the target system.

Before upgrading to a new version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server, it is recommended you export your Extension GeoEventconfiguration using ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager and back up any installed or added components. The components are added to the following folder: <arcgis-geoevent-install-location>\deploy.

For any added components, you might need to modify the code, release numbers, configurations, and rebuild with the appropriate version of the ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server Software Development Kit.

Before upgrading to a new version of ArcGIS for Server and ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server, it is recommended you stop the ArcGIS GeoEvent Windows service and set its Startup type to Manual. This will ensure Extension GeoEventdoes not get into a unsupported state with mismatched software releases on the same machine. Once the upgrade of ArcGIS for Server and Extension GeoEvent has completed successfully, set the ArcGIS GeoEvent Windows service Startup type back to Automatic, the default type.

Do I need to uninstall a previous version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server before installing the new version?

No. If you already have an existing version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server installed, the setup will automatically upgrade it to the new version without any additional configuration.

Do I need to back up anything before installing the new version of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server?

Yes. It is recommended that you back up your Extension GeoEvent configuration as well as your added components.

To back up your Extension GeoEvent configuration, use GeoEvent Manager to export your configuration as a configuration file.

To back up your added components, back up the content from the following folder: <arcgis-geoevent-install-location>\GeoEvent\deploy.

If I upgrade to a new version of ArcGIS for Server, do I need to upgrade to ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server?

Yes. The release of ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server must match ArcGIS for Server. You cannot run mismatched releases of the software on the same machine.
