ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure is an application you install on your local Windows machine to deploy ArcGIS Enterprise and stand-alone ArcGIS Server sites on Microsoft Azure. It helps you to extend your Azure implementation to include ArcGIS.
You can download ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure and install it if you have an ArcGIS Enterprise license.
The following sections describe what items are created on Azure when you deploy a site using ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure.
ArcGIS Enterprise deployment items
When you deploy ArcGIS Enterprise, you get a multiple-machine site on Azure that provides the base components for your Web GIS. The deployment contains the following:
- Portal for ArcGIS on its own virtual machine.
- Two or more GIS Server machines, which are used for the portal's hosting server.
- A relational data store and a tile cache data store created through ArcGIS Data Store. The relational data store is on its own virtual machine. You can choose to also create a spatiotemporal big data store.
- Two or more web servers that act as reverse proxies.
A workgroup edition or single-machine deployment creates one virtual machine containing ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Data Store (relational and tile cache data stores). Note that you should not place a spatiotemporal big data store on the same machine as the other ArcGIS Enterprise components, as contention for memory and storage could cause parts of the deployment to stop working due to lack of sufficient resources.
ArcGIS Server deployment items
You have several ArcGIS Server site options, depending on what role you want the site to fill.
ArcGIS GeoEvent Server
You can create stand-alone ArcGIS GeoEvent Server sites or federate them with your portal to use real-time data feeds in your deployment.
ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server
ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server sites allow you to use Outils GeoAnalytics to perform feature analysis to find patterns and aggregate data.
Cloud Builder federates the ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server site with your portal. You must have a spatiotemporal big data store in your Enterprise deployment to use ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server.
ArcGIS Image Server
You can create a stand-alone ArcGIS Image Server site or federate it with your portal to publish image services from mosaic datasets. If you federate the Image Server site with your portal, Cloud Builder will set the site as your portal's raster analysis server.
ArcGIS GIS Server
When you deploy ArcGIS Enterprise, you automatically get an ArcGIS GIS Server site as the portal's hosting server. You can create additional ArcGIS GIS Server sites to be used as stand-alone sites or federate them with your portal.
If you create a stand-alone site, you can choose the following options:
- Create a site that contains two or more GIS Server machines.
- You can add one machine containing a managed database in Microsoft Azure SQL Database or SQL Server.
- You can complete a postdeployment step to add one or more machines containing registered databases (optional postdeployment step).
A workgroup or single-machine deployment creates one virtual machine containing ArcGIS Server and the SQL Server or Azure SQL Databases.
