Alerts glossary

The following sections provide you with table column names and descriptions for the Alerts and the Root Cause Analysis reports pages in the ArcGIS Monitor Server application.

Alerts page

The following table contains descriptions for the columns displayed on the Alerts page in the Monitor Server application:

Column nameDescription

ID

Unique identifying number for the alert.

Category

The report in which the alert can be found, such as Web, ArcGIS, or Infrastructure.

Last Alert

The last time the alert was opened in a given time range.

Collection

The name of the collection in which the alert can be found.

Level

The severity level of the alert (Critical, Warning, or Informational).

Status

Indicates whether the alert is open (still occurring) or closed (no longer occurring).

H:M

The cumulative number of hours and minutes the alert was open.

Count

The number of alerts in the time range.

Groups

Consecutive alerts are included in one group. If a new alert occurs after it has been closed, a new alert group is created. Intermittent alerts that open and close frequently will have a high number of groups.

Counter Name

The label of the counter as it appears in the catalog tree view in the ArcGIS Monitor Server application.

Rule

The threshold or condition that triggers the alert.

Counter Instance

The counter name attribute.

Name

The descriptive name of the counter.

Comments

Information about the configured alert.

Counter Type

The ArcGIS Monitor counter type, such as ArcGIS, Http, Ext, and so on.

Int (min)

The sample interval for the counter in minutes.

Root Cause Analysis Reports

The following table contains descriptions for the columns displayed on the Root Cause Analysis Reports page in the Monitor Server application:

Column nameDescription

Bin

A container for all alert conditions that occurred within each 10-minute interval.

Type

The alert is either a candidate of the root cause (Source) or the alert is an upstream impact (Impact).

Tier

The report in which the alert can be found, such as Web, ArcGIS, Infrastructure, and so on.

Start Time

The time when the bin started.

End Time

The time when the bin ended. Clicking the end time link displays a chart and statistics for the counter alert.

Min

The time in minutes for each bin. This time is constant and noneditable.

Level

The severity level of the alert (Critical, Warning, or Informational).

Counter Name

The label of the counter as it appears in the catalog tree view in the ArcGIS Monitor Server application.

Rule

The threshold or condition that triggers the alert.

Counter Instance

The counter name attribute.

Name

The descriptive name of the counter. Clicking the name link opens the referenced URL.

Counter Type

The ArcGIS Monitor counter type, such as ArcGIS, Http, Ext, and so on.

Comments

Information about the configured alert.
