Localizing Portal for ArcGIS

The Portal for ArcGIS setup installs language-specific resources that allow you to localize the user interface of the portal website. Localized help documentation is available as a separate installation, which you must download from My Esri. To learn how to localize your portal, see the sections below.

Localizing the portal website

Language determines the user interface as well as the way time, date, and numerical values appear. The user interface of the portal website can be viewed in the following languages:

Arabic

Lithuanian

Czech

Norwegian

Danish

Polish

Dutch

Portuguese (Brazil)

English

Portuguese (Portugal)

Estonian

Romanian

Finnish

Russian

French

Simplified Chinese

German

Spanish

Greek

Swedish

Hebrew

Thai

Italian

Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong)

Japanese

Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)

Korean

Turkish

Latvian

Vietnamese

The display language of the portal website is determined by the organization language. By default, the organization language is set to English. Individual members can set their own preferred language in their user profile. This allows users to override the organization language after they log in to the website. Users who do not have an ArcGIS organizational account will always see the portal website in the organization language; they are not allowed to specify their own language.

To change the organization language, do the following:

  1. Log in to the portal website as an administrator and click the My Organization link on the top menu.
  2. Click Edit Settings > General.
  3. From the Language drop-down list, select the desired language.
  4. Click Save.

Localizing the help documentation

The English help documentation is installed as part of the Portal for ArcGIS setup. To view the help in a non-English language, you'll need to download and install the Portal for ArcGIS Help Language Pack from My Esri. The language pack contains help in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified Han), Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
