The Portal for ArcGIS setup installs language-specific resources that allow you to localize the user interface of the portal website. Localized help documentation is available as a separate installation, which you download from My Esri. To learn how to localize your portal, see the sections below.
Localize the portal website
Language determines the user interface as well as the way time, date, and numerical values appear. The user interface of the portal website can be viewed in the following languages:
Arabic | Lithuanian |
Bosnian | Norwegian |
Catalan | Polish |
Croatian | Portuguese (Brazil) |
Czech | Portuguese (Portugal) |
Danish | Romanian |
Dutch | Russian |
English | Serbian |
Estonian | Simplified Chinese |
Finnish | Slovak |
French | Slovenian |
German | Spanish |
Greek | Swedish |
Hebrew | Thai |
Hungarian | Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) |
Indonesian | Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) |
Italian | Turkish |
Japanese | Ukrainian |
Korean | Vietnamese |
Latvian |
The display language of the portal website is determined by the organization language. By default, the organization language is set to English. Individual members can set their own preferred language in their user profile. This allows users to override the organization language after they sign in to the website. Users who do not have an ArcGIS organizational account will always see the portal website in the organization language; they are not allowed to specify their own language.
To change the organization language, do the following:
- Sign in to the portal website as a member of the default administrator role and click the Organization link on the top menu.
- Click Edit Settings > General.
- From the Language drop-down list, select a language.
- Click Save.
Localize the help documentation
The English help documentation is installed as part of the Portal for ArcGIS setup. To view the help in a language other than English, you need to download and install the Portal for ArcGIS Help Language Pack from My Esri. The language pack contains help in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified Han), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Spanish.
