At each release, new versions of ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure and the Esri images on Microsoft Azure Marketplace are available.
For information on bug fixes, see the ArcGIS 10.7 Issues Addressed List and the ArcGIS 10.7.1 Issues Addressed List.
New at 10.7.1
The following sections describe new functionality and upgrade information for the 10.7.1 release:
ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure defaults to larger instance size
When you create a deployment with ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure 10.7.1, the default instance disk size has increased to 128 GB.
Packer templates for building custom ArcGIS Enterprise images
Packer is an open source tool by HashiCorp for creating identical machine images typically used in cloud environments. To meet requirements for governance, security, and patches, you may need to build customized images of ArcGIS Enterprise instead of using the images that Esri provides in the Azure marketplace. Packer templates are available on GitHub, allowing you to build virtual machine images that can be used with ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure.
Preparatory steps for upgrading
If you upgrade to 10.7.1 using ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure, ensure that at least 20 percent of your operating system disk space is available before you upgrade. If you don't have that much space available, add more space.
If you are upgrading a multimachine deployment that you created using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1 Cloud Builder, you must update the port number used by the load balancer probe on your Portal for ArcGIS machines before upgrading to 10.7.1.
New at 10.7
The following sections describe new and improved functionality available starting with the 10.7 release:
Estimate deployment costs
Before you create your deployment using ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure, you can estimate how much the Azure infrastructure—such as virtual machines, databases, and networks—will cost.
Azure Resource Manager templates available via GitHub
Templates are available that allow you to use Microsoft Azure Resource Manager (ARM) to deploy ArcGIS Enterprise, stand-alone and federated ArcGIS Server sites, and ArcGIS Pro on Azure instances. Download the templates from GitHub and use them as an entry point for automation scenarios that previously required using Cloud Builder.
Analyze machine and ArcGIS Server logs
You can use Microsoft Azure Monitor Logs to gather the machine and ArcGIS Server logs generated from your ArcGIS Server deployments on Azure into a log analytics workspace. You can also use Azure Monitor Logs to incorporate Azure native management features such as Update Management and Alerting.
New ArcGIS Server role available
You can federate an ArcGIS Notebook Server site to your ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. See Introduction to ArcGIS Notebook Server in the ArcGIS Server help for information on this role.
Use a domain account to run ArcGIS Windows services
If you join your deployment to an existing Azure Active Directory Domain Service, you can use a domain account to run the ArcGIS Windows services.
Register a Microsoft Azure SQL Database Managed Instance
Use ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure to register an Azure SQL Database Managed Instance with your ArcGIS Server sites on Azure.
Support for recently released Azure features
ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure provides more options when you provision the following resources:
- Microsoft Azure SQL Database—vCore service tiers
- Azure storage accounts—V2 and Blob storage account types
- Azure Managed Disks—Standard solid state drives (SSD)
