Geodata service capabilities and allowed operations

Geodata services expose three capabilities. You can enable these capabilities when you create the service, or you can enable them later by editing the service properties:

  • Geodata provides access to the geodatabase and cannot be disabled.
  • WCS makes the raster contents of your geodatabase available as an Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC), Web Coverage Service (WCS). WCS is an open specification for serving raster data over the web. The WCS capability is not enabled by default. For more information, see WCS services.
  • WFS makes the vector contents of your geodatabase available as an OGC Web Feature Service (WFS). WFS is an open specification for serving data as vector features over the web. The WFS capability is not enabled by default. For more information, see WFS services.

Allowed operations

By default, geodata services are created with Query, Data extraction, and Replication as allowed operations. For more information about these operations, see Tuning and configuring services.
