What's new in ArcGIS Server 11.3

For a list of issues that were fixed at 11.3, see the 11.3 Issues Addressed List.

Caution:
Before upgrading to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3, review considerations for upgrades.

Review the deprecation notices to determine whether your hardware and software components are compatible with version 11.3 and to see a list of functionality that has been deprecated.

Note:

New features and requirements in 11.3 are described in the following sections.

Administer custom data providers using Server Manager

You can now use ArcGIS Server Manager to register, update, and unregister custom data providers with ArcGIS Server and publish read-only feature services that reference the providers to serve data to ArcGIS clients.

New cloud data store authentication methods

Microsoft Entra ID user-assigned managed identity and service principal authentication and shared access signature (SAS) authentication is supported to access files in Azure Blob storage containers when you register a cloud store in ArcGIS Server Manager.

Changes in database support

ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 is the last release to support Microsoft SQL Server 2017. If you use ArcGIS to access data in SQL Server 2017, you'll need to upgrade SQL Server to use it with future versions of ArcGIS.

SQL Server 2016 and PostgreSQL 12.x are no longer supported starting with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3.

Enterprise geodatabase upgrades

If the enterprise geodatabases you use with your ArcGIS Enterprise organization or stand-alone ArcGIS Server sites contain branch versioned data, you are encouraged to upgrade the geodatabase at this release. You can use the UpgradeGeodatabase ArcPy function installed with ArcGIS Server or the Upgrade Geodatabase geoprocessing tool installed with ArcGIS Pro. See How Upgrade Geodatabase works in the ArcGIS Pro help for more information and instructions.
