A 3D tiles service is an ArcGIS Server web service originating from a 3D tiles dataset or 3D tiles package (.3tz). 3D tiles services represent large 3D content as an integrated mesh or 3D objects.
Publishing a 3D tiles service
3D tiles services are always published to a portal—either ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online. You cannot publish a 3D tiles service to a stand-alone ArcGIS Server site.
When publishing to ArcGIS Enterprise, you can publish the following:
- A hosted service (hosted 3D tiles layer)—You can publish a hosted 3D tiles layer from a 3D tiles package that you load to the portal or publish from data in ArcGIS Pro.
- A service that references an existing cache—You can create a cache dataset before publishing and reference that cache dataset when you share the web layer from ArcGIS Pro. The cache dataset must include a file named tileset.json to define the service.
ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 and later support 3D tiles services. ArcGIS Pro 3.4 and later support 3D tiles layers.
When you publish to ArcGIS Online, a hosted 3D tiles layer is always created. You can publish from ArcGIS Pro or a 3D tiles package that you load to the ArcGIS Online organization.
