Use the map builder

When people open the content view for a feature layer, they can add lines and polygons using the map builder in ArcGIS Enterprise Sites. They can also style the map’s layers and add layers to quickly create a map and save it to their user profile. For additional analysis and styling, click the more button and click Edit ArcGIS Enterprise viewer to open the Map Viewer.

Build a map

  1. Browse for a web map made with a public feature layer available through a site or open one from a site’s content library.
  2. Click the build map button build map.
  3. Optionally add one or more layers by clicking Add Layer.
  4. Use the following tools to annotate the map:
    • Pin pin—Mark a location.
    • Freehand freehand—Draw a line or shape.
    • Area freehand area—Create a polygon.
  5. Add notes to a point or drawing by clicking on it and clicking the text button.
  6. Click the setting button settings on a layer and click Style.

    You can also use this button to remove or hide the layer.

  7. Add or modify the layer’s name and summary by clicking the about button.
  8. Use the style options to adjust color, line style and stroke, and transparency.
  9. Click Save.
    Added or modified layers and drawings are saved to the map.
