What's new in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.x on Microsoft Azure

Changes made in ArcGIS 10.5.1 and 10.5 to ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure and images you use to work with ArcGIS on Microsoft Azure are described in the following sections.

ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure

New at 10.5.1

ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure now takes advantage of Microsoft Azure Managed Disks, which allow scaling and high availability. Use the new Manage Machines option in Cloud Builder to change machine and disk types and sizes, and change the state of the machines in your deployments.

You can also manage the number of machines in your ArcGIS Server sites. Add machines as demand for web services increases, and delete machines if demand drops.

When you use Cloud Builder to federate an ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server site with an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, you can configure a big data file share.

Cloud Builder allows you to store and reference SSL certificates on Azure Key Vault during deployment. This makes management of SSL certificates, especially wildcard certificates, much easier.

When you deploy ArcGIS Enterprise with the ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder 10.5.1 for Microsoft Azure, you can store the Portal for ArcGIS content directory in an Azure Blob storage container. This makes the directory highly available.

New at 10.5

ArcGIS Server Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure was renamed ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure. This new name reflects that Cloud Builder deploys and works with all components of ArcGIS Enterprise.

ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure has been expanded to provide the following new deployment options:

  • Include a spatiotemporal big data store when you create a base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment (formerly referred to as a Web GIS in the interface), or add one to an existing deployment.
  • Use ArcGIS Server 10.5 license roles to create stand-alone ArcGIS GeoEvent Server and ArcGIS Image Server sites.
  • Use ArcGIS Server 10.5 license roles to create and federate servers that expand your portal's functionality to include raster analysis and geoanalytics.

ArcGIS Enterprise images on Microsoft Azure

New at 10.5.1

Images now use the Windows Server 2016 operating system.

New at 10.5

ArcGIS images offered on Microsoft Azure Marketplace have also been renamed to reflect that they contain the components of ArcGIS Enterprise.

The ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5 images are available in the Microsoft Azure Government cloud.
