What's new in ArcGIS GeoEvent Server?

New at 10.5.1

ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.5.1 includes stability enhancements and improved functionality throughout the product. For a list of issues that are fixed in 10.5.1, see the 10.5.1 Issues Addressed List. For a summary of changes in the software, see the following sections.

General updates

  • In Global Settings, the values in the Geometry Processor Settings have been updated to be consistent with the Java Geometry API. Mile is now set to enabled/true by default.
  • A warning is now logged in GeoEvent Server when the incident manager prematurely closes an incident (for example, when the maximum number of opened incidents has been reached).
  • Modifying certificate settings using ArcGIS Server Administrative pages (either importRootOrIntermediate or update the Web Server Alias) no longer requires restarting GeoEvent Server.
  • REST API documentation for all endpoints, easily accessible from the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server REST API.

Spatiotemporal big data store

  • When publishing a feature service, the drop-down now includes the feature service that was published.
  • New Auto option when setting the number of shards on a data source. GeoEvent Server automatically determines the best number of shards based on the number of data nodes in your spatiotemporal big data store.
  • Updated and clarified the labels and tooltip on the ObjectID Option property in the Create Data Source dialog.

Connectors

  • The Generic JSON and Text Adapters have been enhanced to use a default WKID.

New at 10.5

ArcGIS GeoEvent Server 10.5 includes stability enhancements and improved functionality throughout the product. For a list of issues that are fixed in 10.5, see the 10.5 Issues Addressed List. For a summary of changes in the software, see the following sections.

General updates

  • With this release, the product formerly known as ArcGIS GeoEvent Extension for Server is now ArcGIS GeoEvent Server.
  • New licensing role for ArcGIS GeoEvent Server, see What is ArcGIS Enterprise? for more information on ArcGIS Server roles.
  • Support for Ubuntu 16.04.x LTS and above.

Spatiotemporal big data store

  • Enable the spatiotemporal big data store using the ArcGIS Data Store installer.
  • New Max Record Count parameter for spatiotemporal big data store map service visualization queries on non-point geometries including polygons and polylines.
  • Support for two new types of aggregation styles including on-the-fly square and hexagon aggregations.
  • Support for aggregation rendering on the feature service.
  • Improved aggregation rendering when working with different projections.
  • Added a new Index Refresh Interval as a metadata property that can be used to improve write throughput. The default value is 1 second, increasing the value will result in better write throughput.
  • Support for multipoint and envelope geometries when using the Store Latest option in stream services.
  • Additional operators have been added to the feature service including delete, add, and update.
  • Automatic data backups using periodic snapshots, including the ability to restore from a snapshot.
  • Administrators can now specify data retention policies, including the ability to purge data.
  • Added support for tables in which the observations do not have a geometry (for example sensor network observations).
  • Integration with ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server, see What is ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server? for more information.

Geofencing

  • The geofence start and end times are now date/time pickers and no longer in epoch times.

Stream services

  • The stream service related feature service is now selectable and is no longer a free-form text box.
  • Spatial filtering now works when using a related feature service.

Connectors

  • The HTTP outbound transport now supports field value substitutions in the HTTP GET mode.
  • The HTTP inbound transport, in HTTP server mode, now accepts GET requests in the query parameters.
  • The File inbound connector now supports very large files by throttling the number of lines per second.
