Share scenes

You can share any scene you make or created by others by sending an email with a link, posting it to your Facebook or Twitter account, or embedding it in a website or blog.

  1. When you want to share a scene, click the Share button Share and choose one of the following options to Share the scene:
    • Click the email button to send the scene in an email.
    • Click the Facebook or Twitter buttons to share it over social media.
    • Copy the short URL to paste it into a blog or website address.
    • Embed the scene in a website.

When you share a scene, the scene will share the layer settings and basemap of the scene when it was saved last and the camera position before you clicked the Share button. This allows you to share and embed scenes that open at specific locations. For example, if you find a demographic layer for the entire United States, you can zoom in to your city and share a link that opens the scene at that city.

Note:

You may not see all the sharing options, depending on how your administrator has configured your site or if you do not have privileges to share content. For example, you only see the Facebook and Twitter options if you are allowed to share outside the organization.

Considerations for sharing scenes

  • The scene viewer will warn you if your scene or any of the layers in the scene are not shared with the public. If you want your scene to be accessible to the public you need to share the layers and scene with everyone.
  • Most Living Atlas layers are free to use in your scenes and can be viewed by anyone. However, some of the layers require an organizational account to view and, in some cases, consume credits and require privileges. These layers are identified in the item details.

Embed a scene

To embed a public scene you've opened in the scene viewer, copy the ready-to-use HTML code and paste it into your website. If you want, you can configure the embedded view of the scene before copying the code. You can choose the size of your scene and select scene options.

  1. Open a saved scene in the scene viewer and click the Share button Share.
  2. Select and copy the HTML code that's provided.
  3. Paste the code into your web page where you want the scene to appear.
