Configure AI assistants (beta)

Organizations can enable AI assistants for members to use. Generative AI capabilities are only enabled when the organization opts in. For more information and answers to common questions, see Trusted AI in ArcGIS.

Note:

An ArcGIS Online organizational account and internet access are required to enable and use AI assistants in ArcGIS Enterprise.

Data and prompts used in conjunction with AI assistants will be processed in ArcGIS Online. Any data used in conjunction with an AI assistant can be sent to this external service managed by Esri.

Allow AI assistants

Access to AI assistants in ArcGIS Enterprise is administered at the organization level. Enabling access may include AI assistants at various stages of functionality, including beta and preview.

To enable AI assistants in your ArcGIS Enterprise organization, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your organization as a member of the default administrator role or a custom role with the set of privileges to manage the organization's security and infrastructure.
  2. Click Organization at the top of the website, and click the Settings tab.
  3. On the AI assistants page, enable the Allow use of AI assistants by members of your organization toggle button.
  4. Provide the credentials for an ArcGIS Online organizational account.

    Note:

The credentials must be for a member of a supported ArcGIS Online organizational account type. The ArcGIS Online organization must have AI assistants enabled.

Available AI assistants

The Item Details assistant (beta) is the only AI assistant available at this release, and it can be enabled or disabled from the AI assistants section of the organization settings.

AI transparency cards are available with more security and privacy details.

Credits

While in beta or preview, AI assistants do not consume credits. However, some AI assistants may recommend a workflow that uses credits, and some functionality may consume credits in the future.
