ArcGIS Enterprise on Microsoft Azure

This ArcGIS 10.9 documentation has been archived and is no longer updated. Content and links may be outdated. See the latest documentation.

ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure allows you to deploy ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server sites, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Desktop on Microsoft Azure virtual machines.

The advantages of deploying on Microsoft Azure include the following:

  • You don't have to maintain hardware infrastructure.
  • You can create or remove sites as demand requires.

Deploy ArcGIS Enterprise on Microsoft Azure from images on Microsoft Azure Marketplace. Use ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Microsoft Azure with these images and your ArcGIS licenses to deploy the following:

  • ArcGIS Enterprise: Use Cloud Builder to create a base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, which includes Portal for ArcGIS, a GIS Server site used as the portal's hosting server, and a relational and tile cache data store (ArcGIS Data Store) configured with the hosting server.
  • Federated ArcGIS Server sites: Add one or more ArcGIS Server sites to your ArcGIS Enterprise deployment to fill a specific functional role.
  • A stand-alone ArcGIS Server site: If you'll be publishing features, maps, or geoprocessing tools from ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap to an ArcGIS Server site on Azure, you can create a stand-alone GIS Server site. If you'll be publishing imagery, create an ArcGIS Image Server on Azure.
  • ArcGIS Pro: Create virtual machines on Azure that contain ArcGIS Pro. You can use these clients to connect to data you have stored in Azure and publish to your ArcGIS Enterprise portal and ArcGIS Server sites in Azure.

You need a Microsoft Azure subscription and ArcGIS licenses to create these deployments. You choose virtual machine sizes and types and create other components when you deploy using Cloud Builder. Use the Microsoft Azure pricing calculator to help determine costs of using various Azure components.
