In ArcGIS Knowledge Studio, your work is organized in projects. A Knowledge Studio project is a workspace for exploring and analyzing knowledge graph data. Each Knowledge Studio project includes a reference to the knowledge graph, a knowledge graph view, a query view, and a dashboard view. The project can also reference maps, link charts, and data cards.
Content item types
A Knowledge Studio project can have six content item types: the knowledge graph view, query view, maps, link charts, data cards, and the dashboard view. Each content item opens in a view based on its type. Content items open in new tabs. The number of content items you can have open depends on the number of maps and link charts in each item.
All Knowledge Studio projects include a knowledge graph view, query view, and a dashboard view, which cannot be removed from the project. All other items are created through workflows and can be removed.
Knowledge graph view
The knowledge graph view is one of the default views in a Knowledge Studio project. The knowledge graph view allows you to explore the entities and relationships defined in the knowledge graph.
Maps
You can create maps in a Knowledge Studio project to visualize the spatial entities in a knowledge graph.
Link charts
You can create link charts in a Knowledge Studio project to visualize, analyze, and dynamically explore a knowledge graph.
Data cards
You can create data cards in a Knowledge Studio project to capture a snapshot of a single entity or relationship in the knowledge graph.
Query view
The query view is one of the default views in a Knowledge Studio and allows you to query the knowledge graph to find a subset of the entities and relationships it contains and identify how different entities are connected.
Dashboard view
The dashboard view is one of the default views in a Knowledge Studio project that you can configure to synthesize key information about your project or analysis.
Create a project
You can create a Knowledge Studio project from the Knowledge Studio landing page or by opening a knowledge graph item from your portal in Knowledge Studio.
Create a project from the landing page
From the Knowledge Studio landing page, you can browse, search, filter, and sort portal content to find the knowledge graph you want to work with and add it to a project. A new project is created, allowing you to analyze the knowledge graph's content.
- Click Create New Project.
The Create New Project wizard appears.
- Optionally, provide a title for the project in the Project Title text box.
The project is untitled by default.
- Use the Filter box and the My Contents drop-down menu to browse to or search for the knowledge graph you want to investigate, choose the knowledge graph, and click OK.
Create a project from a knowledge graph item
You can also create a Knowledge Studio project from a knowledge graph item in your portal.
- Open the item details page of the knowledge graph item.
- Click Open in Knowledge Studio.
A new Knowledge Studio project opens and lists the content items of the project. The project starts with the knowledge graph view and dashboard view. You can explore the knowledge graph further in the knowledge graph view.
Note:
New Knowledge Studio projects are not automatically saved.Open an existing project
You can open an existing Knowledge Studio project from the Knowledge Studio landing page or by clicking the Knowledge Studio project item in your portal.
The Knowledge Studio landing page lists all projects that you can access in your portal.
- Browse to or search for the Knowledge Studio project you want to open.
- Click the project title to open it.
Rename a project
By default, a Knowledge Studio project has the same name as the knowledge graph it references. You can rename a project at any time.
- Click Edit Project Title next to the project title on the title bar.
- Provide a new name for the project and press Enter.
- Click Save in the main menu to save the project.
Save a project
A Knowledge Studio project must be saved to retain changes to the project. If you refresh your browser without saving the project, all content items and views will be reset to the last project state you saved.
To save a Knowledge Studio project:
- Click Save in the main menu.
- Click Save in the drop-down menu.
- Optionally, Click Save As in the drop-down menu to save your work as a new project in your portal.
The Save As opens.
