In this topic

A data frame in your document contains map graphics. Map graphics increase the memory footprint of a loaded document, which leads to performance degradation. Due to these side effects, map graphics are not supported in map services.

Solutions

  • Convert map graphics to features using the Convert Graphics to Features command. Choose the Automatically delete graphics after conversion option to ensure that the graphics are removed from the map.
  • An alternative is to turn off all the map annotation groups to ensure that they are not visible and won't be saved to a service definition.

More information

Text graphics will be converted to geodatabase annotation when using the Convert Graphics to Features command. Geodatabase annotation offers better drawing performance and a more efficient editing experience than map annotation.
